A dedicated programme support is required to achieve results in a timely manner in 2020, including continued progress against Global Intervention Action plan indicators (Strategic Plan 2018-2021). This support will be critical in tracking, following up on, and contributing to the performance analysis of Global and Regional Interventions. In addition, this consultancy will take on additional substantive work relating to the Mid-term Review of the Strategic Plan process, particularly the Mid-term Review of Global and Regional Interventions as an integral part of the entire review process. The consultant will be used in a polled manner to support, as and when required, the work of other branches in PSD and that of the Directorate, specifically as may be required in the context of the mid-term review of the strategic plan.

Consultant provides operational and analytical support to a number of strategic initiatives managed by Policy and Strategy Division. He/she supports integration of the results of academic research into operational plans, organization of evidence-based advocacy and project management and works on substantial support to external partnerships managed by the division. The post is located in the Directorate, Policy and Strategy Division (PSD), New York. Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Evidence-Based Advocacy Consultant will support
organizational strategic evidence-based advocacy, communication and partnerships efforts with specific focus on civil society, academia and emerging issues. S/He will coordinate efforts within
and beyond the Division to ensure a coherent advocacy approach and messaging. Incumbent also will serve as Consultant of the institutional program targeting issues of Afrodescendants
and follow-up to the decade on the people of African descent. The incumbent will develop and overall ICPD advocacy and positioning, with specific focus on issues as they emerge post
Nairobi Summit on ICPD 25.

The Intergovernmental engagement of UNFPA is coordinated from Policy and Strategy Division (PSD) in New York. UNFPA Liason office in Geneva implements important advocacy and reach out work to support intergovernmental reach out and advocacy.
