The Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst on Youth & Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) the intern will support the team in the areas of Adolescent and Youth. UNFPA is committed to supporting the Indonesian government in upholding the rights of young people, particularly regarding their sexual and reproductive health. To achieve this, UNFPA works to ensure young people have access to accurate ASRH information and services. This empowers them to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health, ultimately reducing risks like unwanted pregnancy, HIV/ Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and unsafe abortions.
A work plan with achievements for the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon. Periodic progress meetings will lead to a beneficial environment for the Intern enhancing her/his skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA’s mandate.
You will report to Programme Analyst, Youth and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH).

You would be responsible for:
Supporting Youth and ASRH Unit with a focus on Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) education;
Research and Content Creation:
- Research best practices and innovative approaches to ARH education in Indonesia and globally.
- Assist in developing age-appropriate and culturally sensitive educational materials on ARH topics for young people.
- Compile data and statistics on adolescent health needs and challenges in Indonesia.
Program Support:
- Assist in organizing workshops and training sessions on ARH education for educators, youth leaders, and healthcare providers.
- Develop social media campaigns and other outreach materials to promote ARH awareness among young people.
Advocacy and Collaboration:
- Build relationships with government agencies, NGOs, and youth organizations working on ARH education in Indonesia.
- Contribute to reports and presentations on the importance of ARH education for young people.
Additionally:
- You will have the opportunity to learn from UNFPA experts in the field of ASRH.
- You may be involved in other activities related to UNFPA's work on ASRH in Indonesia.

All interns must meet the following educational and other eligibility requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational requirements
Be enrolled in a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent) and have completed one full academic year;
Other eligibility requirements
- Demonstrate interest in the field of development; particularly ASRH related issues.
- Demonstrate written and spoken proficiency in English and Indonesia; and
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to new environments and to establish and maintain good working relations with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.

Your Experiences:
- Some experience in working with community development issues, including in volunteer capacity.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.

An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a UNFPA staff member is not eligible for an internship with UNFPA
Financial Aspects:
Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. The costs associated with an intern's participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements. However, they receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship, if not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation, or scholarship programme. The stipend is based on the intern’s agreed place of work, which may be different from the duty station of the hiring office in cases of remote arrangements.
In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins. UNFPA does not provide medical insurance for interns.
