On 08 June 2015, UNFPA Argentina, together with Vital Voices, launched a new innovation project – Investing in Women, Transforming the World – at Google Buenos Aires. UNFPA was joined by 32 women leaders who will serve as mentors to 32 young women from around the country with excellent leadership potential.
The kickoff event included talks, workshops and seminars from leaders in Argentina and the UNFPA team. Each mentee was paired up with a woman leader, whom she shadowed at her place of work for three days following the launch.
Over the course of the next five months, mentor-mentee teams will work on developing their own projects in key areas of UNFPA’s mandate, particularly sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, and youth empowerment. They will receive online and offline technical support from leading academic institutions and UNFPA staff. An expert panel will then select three to five winning projects in late November.
